About Andamento

Andamento?

small bird mosiac, indirect method Andamento is the business outlet for my decorative leaded glasswork and jewellery.

All the designs used are unique to Andamento and all items listed on the site are handcrafted by myself.

The name Andamento derives from another of my craft related interests; andamento is the generic term used to describe the flow of the tiles within a mosaic.

Stained Glass Overlay?

All my leaded items are decorated using the stained glass overlay method. This method of decoration allows leaded mirrors to be created using a single sheet of glass thus the reflected image is distortion free.

I rarely use plain coloured film, prefering instead the quality of the marble effects, wisps and lustres which have added depth of colour and interest.

I use natural lead and am therefore able to solder lead joints which gives a quality finish to the leadwork. The lead is either polished as-is for a natural lead finish, or treated with a patination fluid before polishing which give the lead a darkened antique finish.

The stained glass overlay method of glass decoration is also suitable for exterior use such as on windows and glass door panels. The manufacturer guarantee for such conditions is 10 years with an estimated life expectancy in excess of 25 years.
